Let us mind our Carbon footprint by Switching over to Green Living...

Every detail of the earth we live on is an exquisite example of the nature's remarkable beauty. But today the pleasant ecstasy of the elegant earth is slowly turning bleak due to human activities that are having adverse effects on the environment indicating the high time for us to start being environmental conscious by minding our carbon footprint, which is the measure of carbon and other greenhouse gases emitted by us into the environment with our life styles, and shifting into green living.
As a part of this I share some of my views on making it count for green living starting right from our homes in such a way that they can aid us in making our earth invincible. Let us not only try shifting but also spreading the message of green homes by following these simple yet powerful things.

  • Cut the carbon release: It is the responsibility of every individual living on this planet to prevent it from collapsing. And to achieve this we should follow effective ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Let us make a difference by cutting down the release of carbon in our day to day lives and improve our living.

For this to happen, one can start using a bicycle instead of a carbon emitting vehicle to travel short distances, this can keep you fit and equally help in creating  an Eco friendly environment.
We can also try upon conserving the electric energy used by us in our day to day lives to live green. Let us first know the power consumption of our electrical home appliances even before using them, so that we can change or replace them in such a way that they can help us in establishing green homes. For example, replacing incandescent tubes with Compact Fluorescent Lights with long life can help us save both power and money.

  • Start with a Plant: Go green in every room of your house. Place some indoor plants in every possible corner of the house to establish green homes. A green plant is actually a best sink for the carbon gasses and so helps us to have clean air circulating in our homes. Also the presence of a green plant in a house can express the desire of the individual towards having an Eco friendly environment.

  • Remember to Recycle and Reuse: Understand the importance of recycling and reusing things before replacing them. Do not replace any thing unless and until it is really necessary. At home try using rechargeable batteries and recycle your organic waste in a  compost pit.
  • Say no to plastic: Every second person we come across today is found carrying a plastic bag or a bottle. Let us say no to it first and replace their use with jute bags and reusable water bottles or canteens, which are more durable and Eco friendly than the plastic products.

As said by Wendell Berry, the earth is all what we have in common, and to cherish its remains and foster its renewal is our legitimate hope of survival.
Therefore let us take an initiative to live green by starting it within our very homes even before spreading it across to pass on a promising and an Eco friendly environment to our future generations.
