"Dance" the Universal Language...

Image
Due to diverse reasons I am not frequently using my space these days, but couldn't hold my thoughts on the wonderful art, I am into since a child, on this celebrated day of the year. On this International Dance Day , let me first take an opportunity to wish all the dancers and those who can understand its language a great time!!!  DANCING --- How it feels...   "Dance is a universal means to communicate. And to experience the bliss hidden in this divine art form, all one need to do is to open up to it." I consider myself gifted and blessed cause I am a dancer myself. Every time when I get ready to stretch my arms and tap my feet on the floor, every time when the music flows in the air, some sort of liveliness, strength, excitement and fresh energy coupled with a bit of nervousness kicks in. My body is going to find some movement and my soul is going to go on a tour. The divine world we enter into while practicing the art cannot be explained in terms.

A Nostalgic Memoir --- "My Gran"...

This could be a bit different one of the posts I often do, but thought I should bring this up in my space. Its about an influential and an impeccable woman (I shouldn't miss the tag important) in our lives and that is none other than my maternal gran. An artist, a sweet singer, a great cook, and of course a good mom - all these can be the synonyms of my gran, who is undoubtedly an industrious and an ideal lady I knew since a child. Having her attention was like having the sun shining brightly upon the green pastures. The warmth in her love and the affection in her speech could be felt even today. She was a resourceful love who, made us learn several things in such a way that they still ring in our ears.  Ever after this sun set, I remember her as a confident and a graceful lady, totally independent and of course a caring woman.

Unfolding Eco Feminism....

Image
Though a girl, I am not too much into the concepts of liberal feminism. This can be attributed to my unique upbringing where, I am always free to decide and do what my heart speaks. To be precise, I don't have any restrictions and was given a chance to be myself.  But I was fascinated with the concepts related to "Eco Feminism"  and so this post is finding its place in my space. This concept is a fusion of patriarchal science, ecology, feminine history, ethology and more and  was explained by Susan Griffin, in her provocative feminist literature "Woman and Nature - The Roaring Inside Her". Eco feminism as I look at it: Women in general possess a special connection with the nature/ environment. But the oppression where, man dominates women and culture dominates nature is still in existence. The sapiens seek themselves superior than the natural environment (in this context, both men and women share common grounds) and are (with their activities) mak

Emotional Eating!!!!

Image
We in general find people tending to eat more when subjected to stress and some feelings like anger, sadness, restlessness, happiness and even during the depression. This act of turning towards food to comfort oneself and to fill the emotional needs than the physical is termed as  "Emotional Eating" . ---  Quite a familiar act (more in females) but the term will not find a common usage.... An Overview: The prime causes of emotional eating are the stress, boredom, restraining emotions and of course the group behavior. Unlike physical hunger, which  is seen gradually and can stop when you feel full, emotional hunger sneaks in suddenly and makes you eat even when you are full, finally leading to shame, regret and guilt, once after the hunger is satisfied.. Tips to Overcome: All one need to do to overcome this act of overeating to satisfy the emotional needs is to work out on the root cause of the feeling which leads to feed our stomach. So all we need to know in th

Hidden Meaning of Lord Natraja --- Remembering my Guru's words...

Image
This could be my 2nd post in this blog relating dance, but this time the pitch can be a bit different. Dance has been my passion since a child (I attended my first dance class when I was 7 years old) and it always holds a place in my priority lists (no wonder, I learnt how to ride a bicycle simply to attend my classes). My parents and family encouraged me when I expressed my interest in the art and soon got my admission to dance under my guru 'Sri Avasarala Rukmaji Rao'. He not only developed my interest in art but also inculcated the right thought and showed me a path to get myself involved in the ocean of dance. Under his tutelage, I was trained to learn, understand and practice more than the art. According to him, it's not simply learning the art but he made us live the art. A Nostalgic remembrance: A lmost about 12 years ago, I was learning a composition "Ananda Natamaduvar Tillai", which explains the cosmic dance (Tandava) of lord shiva as Na

Tricks to fight Depression....

Image
If you are going through a complex condition characterized by loss of interest in social living coupled with profound sadness and a strong feeling of worthlessness, then all you need to do is to try your best and stand against it.  This is because  " D epression is Devastating ...." Medication is known to help an individual against depression, but here let me list some general tricks apart from swallowing sour pills or undergoing through some psych therapies to make such a condition better.  Solitude a source of Sabotage: "Family and friends will stay with you during the tough times." If you believe in this then you will definitely prevent the hallmark of depression, i.e., SOLITUDE.  Yes, if you think you are becoming isolated, reach out to people, improve and expand your social access.   Regularize your Routine: Well, may be, you really have an irregular routine thats making you lethargic (for instance, spending a lot of time to sleep in th

Life of a Life Science Student...

Image
Well it's not at all an exaggerated post, but is all true and is coming straight from my heart -- " A Life Science Student's "...  When everyone else says you can't, determination says, "Yes You Can"... (S. Hawking).  A lovely and an inspiring quote. Isn't it? My story may not be so lovely or inspiring as the quote, but it is the way I live and so I love it (cause every choice and the decisions involved are made by me). Let me now start with   My Story... As a school going kid, I was fascinated with the contents of my biology textbook and the science of life embedded in it (on the other hand believed that maths books have millions of problems and so was never my cup of tea). Even before giving my board exams, I was determined to take up science and find a career in the same. I was questioned by many over my decision but my family was with me.With all the interest and immense hope I took up the biology stream in my +2. I really did som
